''Invitation to Traditional Street Games'' Project

''Invitation to Traditional Street Games'' Project focuses on that Street Games are one of the most effective ways in which children gain essential knowledge and skills for their future life.This project is addressed to students especially aged between 10 and 13 years old who are still children and need to play with their peers in the streets. Four partnership schools from Italy, Czech Republic, Portugal and Turkey find out that students in the 10-13 age range spend too much time playing online games than playing outdoors.They would rather play a game on the computer, tablet or mobile phone.They are unaware of Traditional Street Games through which in addition to having fun and getting physically exercise, they can develop their cognitive skills, cultural and social learning, positive social values and skills. Recognizing the importance of Street Games for students' learning and development, all partner schools want to bring Traditional Street Games into students' daily life, as a means to tackle social challenges of technological age in which television, internet, online games make them to disconnect from the natural world. As forgotten old games is a global problem, all partner schools have come together to draw attention to reintroduce Traditional Street Games and raise awareness about the importance of them for children's intellectual, emotional, and social development.

Project has different objectives;

 -enable students to be physically active since Street Games are generally activities that require running, jumping, skipping and climbing.

-enable students to improve their cognitive skills. With respect to cognitive development, playing allows the students to learn their environment, many concepts such as color, dimension, counting and time.

-enable students to improve their cooperation, communication, social and group work skills. While playing they will develop good morals such as fairness, acceptance, kindness, self-control and respect for diversity. On the other hand, they will learn their own cultural traditions and values by joining activities such as traditional dances, songs and games.

-enable students to develop key skills including ICT use effectively, English language skills and national language competence.

-provide a wide range of activities from different fields; activities related to Physical Education, Science, ICT, Art, Geography, Natural Environment, Language and History.Thanks to the activities of the project, students will enhance basic skills including reading, writing, questioning, organization, analyzing information and time management skills.

 -contribute to make educational environment friendlier,strees-free, attractive, stimulating, more open and accessible to all students. As a result, Students will be able to enhance their academic success.

-bring together participants (students, families, schools) from different countries.They will have a chance to gain a broad sociocultural awareness, see and experience different cultures and lifestyles of the participants, and break stereotypes and prejudices. The project will also be a great chance for the school staff and teachers to improve teaching methods by sharing experiences with colleagues in other countries of the EU. By sharing their most significant traditions and learning from other cultures, all participants will also promote UE DEMOCRATIC VALUES.

 

 

Project Results are development of,

-English language and national language skills among students

-Using ICT and internet skills effectively among students

-Social, communication, cooperation and group work skills among students

-Cultural awareness, good attitudes and behaviors among students

-Key competences and basic skills among students

-Different teaching methods among teachers

-Communication, cooperation and sociocultural awareness among participants
